Your brokerage account shows a total value and a return. A portfolio check also needs a view of the companies inside your ETFs, the allocation of your capital and its distance from your investment plan. This guide shows how to use Investboard for that review and what to consider when comparing it with Parqet and getquin.
Portfolio analysis connects holdings data with practical questions: What do you own? Where are the concentrations? Does today's allocation still fit your strategy? Positive performance alone does not answer those questions. A portfolio that has risen in value may now depend more heavily on particular companies or sectors than originally intended.
A traceable portfolio check covers four levels:
Investboard connects these questions through portfolio analysis and your personal investment mandate. The analysis shows the recorded holdings. Your mandate provides the reference for interpreting them.
Start with the purpose of the portfolio. Long-term wealth accumulation and an ongoing withdrawal phase have different requirements. Write down your time horizon, the allocation you intend to follow and when you will review it.
In Investboard, you can first explore a base strategy. During onboarding, you clarify your goals, time horizon and capacity to withstand losses, then record the chosen framework in your mandate. Connecting your portfolio makes it possible to compare targets with holdings. The strategy page explains the process.
If you already have a strategy, use it as the starting point for your review. The investment policy statement template helps turn unwritten intentions into explicit rules. Include deliberate tilts: understanding whether a concentration was intended is part of assessing it.
Bring in positions through an available broker connection, a supported file import or manual entry. The appropriate route depends on your institution and the available data format. Check the offered connection or import against your actual holdings first.
Then compare the recorded positions with your brokerage statement. Are the security identifiers, quantities and currencies correct? Has a position been entered twice? Is another account belonging to the same strategy missing? Cash can also matter if it forms part of your defined target allocation.
Choose a clear scope for the review. An equity percentage measured against a securities account can differ from one measured against all recorded wealth. Record the date and scope so that two reviews remain comparable.
Open portfolio analysis and examine asset classes, countries and sectors. Then explore ETF look-through. This reveals the underlying positions where holdings data is available.
That second view is particularly useful with several ETFs. Different fund names can contain the same companies. A stock you hold directly may also appear in your funds. Its total company weight depends on the sum of those ownership routes across the portfolio being examined.
Consider a fully illustrative portfolio worth €100,000. It holds €50,000 in Fund A, €30,000 in Fund B and €5,000 directly in shares of the fictional company Alpha. The remaining €15,000 is invested in other assets with no Alpha exposure. Alpha accounts for 4 percent of Fund A and 6 percent of Fund B.
| Position | Formula | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Fund A | 50% × 4% | 2.0% |
| Fund B | 30% × 6% | 1.8% |
| Stock | 5,000 ÷ 100,000 | 5.0% |
| Total | 2.0% + 1.8% + 5.0% | 8.8% |
The visible individual stock accounts for 5 percent of the portfolio. Including indirect holdings, Alpha represents 8.8 percent. That is €8,800 of the same portfolio capital, not additional money. The figure describes a company weight; it is neither a loss forecast nor the overlap percentage between the two funds.
Our article on ETF overlap explains the different metrics and calculations. The number alone cannot tell you whether 8.8 percent is excessive. That assessment needs your own strategy framework.
Check the displayed sources, dates and coverage when examining fund holdings. Missing positions remain unknown. A list of the ten largest holdings cannot establish a complete company weight. Country classification, corporate headquarters and the geography of revenue may also answer different questions.
Investboard displays data coverage in the analysis context. Use it when interpreting the result: an unknown position is not evidence of additional diversification. The example above assumes complete holdings with no further Alpha exposure. A real portfolio needs that completeness checked first.
After checking holdings, compare actual allocation with targets. Consider the current weights alongside your target allocation and the rules recorded in your mandate. Investboard connects the portfolio with that written framework and makes deviations visible.
Another purely illustrative example: the chosen equity allocation for the assets under review is 70 percent, while the current share is 79 percent. The difference is 9 percentage points. Whether it calls for a review depends on your agreed bands and review dates. The example allocation is not a recommendation for your investments.
First record the finding clearly: Which rule does it concern? Did market prices, contributions or incomplete records change the allocation? Transaction costs and tax consequences belong in the assessment before any potential adjustment. Our portfolio rebalancing guide explores the process.
A portfolio check can also conclude that the current allocation should be retained. Investboard does not execute securities orders. Decisions about changes remain yours.
When choosing a portfolio analysis tool, compare how it fits your working process. Parqet and getquin offer substantial analysis capabilities of their own. This comparison is written by Investboard and covers selected features described on the providers' official product pages, checked on 8 September 2026.
| Tool | Described features |
|---|---|
| Parqet | Wealth overview, performance, dividends and X-Ray with ETF look-through. |
| getquin | Portfolio and allocation analysis, benchmarking, dividends, planning and AI features. |
| Investboard | Portfolio analysis with fund look-through, data coverage and a connection to your personal investment mandate. |
Parqet explicitly describes X-Ray with ETF composition and overlaps. getquin lists planning alongside portfolio analysis. ETF look-through or planning alone therefore does not establish a unique advantage for Investboard. Check availability, plan coverage and support for your particular broker with each provider before choosing.
Investboard is an alternative to consider if you want to combine recording a strategy, analysing holdings and reviewing deviations in your process. Explore the analysis and mandate workflow first. The dedicated Parqet comparison provides further context.

Explore portfolio analysis →Set your strategy framework, bring in positions through an available import route and verify the holdings. In portfolio analysis, examine allocation, fund look-through and data coverage. Then compare the current allocation with your personal investment mandate.
A portfolio check covers complete holdings, a clear data date, allocation across asset classes, countries and sectors, and direct and indirect company weights. You then review deviations from your target allocation. Performance alone does not answer these questions.
Investboard is a Parqet alternative to consider if you want to connect portfolio analysis and fund look-through with a written investment mandate. Parqet also offers performance reports, dividend features and ETF X-Ray. The right fit depends on your process, required features and supported imports.
Investboard is a potential getquin alternative for the process of recording a strategy, analysing holdings and reviewing deviations. getquin also offers portfolio analysis and planning features. Compare the implementation, plan coverage and support for your holdings at both providers.
Investboard offers broker connections and file imports and recognises Parqet CSV exports. The transactions imported depend on the format and supported transaction types. Check the import preview and warnings, especially for dividends. For getquin, check an available broker connection or compatibility with your export file. This does not imply ongoing synchronisation with Parqet or getquin.
No. Investboard shows your recorded holdings and deviations from your mandate. It does not execute securities orders. You assess any potential adjustment against your rules, costs and tax consequences; the decision remains yours.
